BENEDICT JAKARTA NEW MENUS - FEBRUARY 2016

Benedict Jakarta just launched their newest menus and they’re like A LOT, but I managed to sample some of their artisan indulgence on a lunch date a few days ago. I have revealed (and raved) about the lunch and gave some exclusive sneakpeek on my Snapchat, so if you haven’t followed me, that’s your loss :p

Review of Benedict on my first ever visit -> CLICK HERE
The new menus were interesting, and I was captivated by the charm of the food, it was something I never had nor expected Benedict to come with. Flavor and presentation wise, interesting, some of the menus even worth calling Benedict a casual fine dining restaurant, but the thing is I don’t think they’re aiming to be one.

Before getting down to the food, Benedict also launches some of their signature cold pressed juices, all came in plastic bottle packaging making it perfect on the go. I tried the watermelon one and it was something that I was fond of. I could definitely taste the watermelon as it dominated the whole flavor, they claimed for not using any preservatives and further sweetening.

The Bourbon cocktail drink uniquely served inside a pot (don’t worry it’s clean), it had this bailey’s and rhum character to it. Strong for me, but I love it.
Pitaya Bowl
Pitaya Bowl is definitely the happening trend at the moment, and Benedict tries to translate it with their own style and uniqueness. Result? Pretty much common, only I guess Benedict’s version is the larger and less sweet one, which is totally good. If you happen to be not very hungry and needing something to hold your tummy, this would be perfect.
Pork Quesadilla
The quesadilla was something I was really fond of. Large, thick and loaded with tasty and beautifully seasoned fillings (meat and a bit of veges), an addition of mozarella cheese would be even more beautiful.
Fried Chicken and Waffle
Hands down to THE BEST fried chicken and waffle in Jakarta at the moment, at least for me. The deep fried battered fried chicken was super nice, perfectly cooked to achieve such tenderness, glazed with this honey-ish sauce and sitting gracefully on top of the crispy-fluffy waffle. You can choose to add in or not add in that perfect looking poached egg. The dish came with their specially made house sauce to pair with the fried chicken and waffle, it was salty and savory, not sure what that is, but truthfully, just the fried chicken and waffle and I am happy enough.
I hate it that I was too carried away with the beauty that I forgot to snap it when I slice the egg open. No eggyolk porn L
BBQ Smoky Short Ribs
ONE OF THE BEST BENEDICT DISHES EVER! Professional and beautiful plating with attention to details and a lot of elements inside, but without appearing confusing and unnecessary. The slow cooked short ribs was superb from the cooking to the seasoning! It was fatty, tender and saucy! I praise the idea of using the sweet corn puree AND the truffle oil drizzle on top to make it more fragrant and delicate. The sweet corn puree was smooth and sweet with a hint of salt! The mushroom croquette was also enjoyable and I love the fact that it came light with the flavor so that it didn’t crash with the other elements, if you really notice, there are these little crunchy things, which happened to be the deep fried dry short ribs adding in the texture.
Green Tea Lava Cake
Texture wise, one of the most perfect molten lava cake I’ve seen, the texture was just spot on with perfectly cooked coating, and all the way runny to the center. The lava cake came with one scoop of creamy cheese ice cream, orange tuile and nut crumbs. Flavor wise? Unfortunately they’re using that particular green tea powder with jasmine flavor infused to it. I never know the name, but I think you know about it, BUT fortunately not too much.

You know what I honestly love about the restaurants managed by UNION group? The fact that they always drive themselves to come with something very anticipated and dearly loved eventually. They’re the game changer, they raise the bar and they always try to prove why they survive all these years. Kudos to that, and kudos to the amazing duo of Chef Fernando Sindu and Ivan Wibowo. You never fail to impress me!
