BANDUNG FOOD DIARY (26-28 DECEMBER 2015)

Yo I just came back from my Bandung trip and I have received like A LOT requests from my Instagram and Snapchat followers to write a quick blog post of my Bandung trip! Your wish is my command here's to you!

Yo I just came back from my Bandung trip and I have received like A LOT requests from my Instagram and Snapchat followers to write a quick blog post of my Bandung trip! Your wish is my command here's to you! I love writing quick travel post like this because I know how tardy I am with my travel posts, especially when I have to write each and every post of restaurants I am visiting, with the amount of works I have in town, sometimes I just can’t handle! So many works to do so little time!

So I went to Bandung for a short weekend trip with my high school best friends and it was fun! Hands down year end highlight! As usual, there are tons of food included, but most importantly, tons of laughters and silly moments #missitalready

Guess some of you have seen my Snaps on my Snapchat! I love Snapchat a lot and I am so addicted to it but why the hell is cost me so much data fml!

Ok enough with the monologue, let's start the list!

WAROENG ETHNIC
Jalan Rancabentang No. 18, Ciumbuleuit, Cidadap, Bandung, Jawa Barat 40141
Opening hours: 7 AM-10 PM
Waroeng Ethnic is a humble cafe located in Jalan Ranca Bentang, you can find various local and International food here. Personally have been here twice and the food was decent enough to keep me coming back, it's simple, nothing fancy but most importantly, delicious. Had their Ayam Penyet, Nasi Goreng Ethnic, Rosti Italia with Cheese and Chicken.
TWO HANDS FULL
Jl. Sukajadi No.198A, Sukajadi, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40162
Opening hours: 7 AM-8 PM
Two Hands Full is one of those hip and popular cafes/coffee shops in Bandung well known for their beautiful coffees and good all day brunch menus! Personally, this is one of my favorites cafes in Bandung, I always order their big breakfast and Tunisian inspired brunch, and pair them with their iced chai latte. I think I had their iced chai latte (IDR 30k) more than I had their coffee here, it's just fascinating to know when a coffee shop do chai, and when it's good it's hard to move on.

DINNER AT JALAN CIBADAK - SUDIRMAN STREET BANDUNG
When in Bandung, try their street food! Jalan Cibadak is filled with original, totally local and some of the highly well-known Bandung food legends such as Nasi Campur 88 (only posted the picture on Snapchat), I waited 1,5 freaking hours just for two boxes and I saw no one’s actually dining in, everyone was sitting and waiting for their takeaways to be done. The “nasi campur” or traditional rice dish with mixed meats was not bad, the sauce was the real bomb of it all! Wedang Ronde Alkateri is another one not to miss, the ginger soup is strong, spicy and intense but I love how heartwarming it was, you can choose the rice balls how you want it? Small, big or mixed, the other good ones that I tried were Bobi (Bola Ubi/sweet potato balls), Bakmie Tjuntjun and Soto Bandung Pak Simon!
PURI BAMBU
Jalan Sindang Sirna No.14, Jawa Barat 40153
Opening hours: 9 AM-10 PM
THIS IS A MUST VISIT FOR PORK LOVERS! Heaven! I literally had no complaint towards the food here, everything was executed beautifully from the cooking to the seasoning! Their Samcan skewer is A MUST! Don't forget to pair all those pork glories with their baked pork rice. Hands down one of the best meals throughout the trip!
 Babi Hong
SAKA BISTRO
Jl. Karangsari, Sukajadi, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40161
Opening hours: 10 AM-10 PM
Saka Bistro is one of those cafes that you go to if you want to take gorgeous OOTD pictures of yours and you need those beautiful backdrop! Saka Bistro is one of those well-designed cafes in Bandung (after Beehive or Vermont) with modern-minimalist industrial design. The food here is decent, but I guess the biggest attraction here is their beautiful latte art created by the cold hands of Mr Tantan!

KWETIAU PANDU ALA CEK ACONG
A moving stall in Jalan Pandu, starts operating at 5 PM
HANDS DOWN TO ONE OF THE BEST FRIED RICE I'VE HAD IN LIFE! This is certainly a food-porn with foodgasm guaranteed, and believe me I am not being hyperbolic here! Posted this on my Instagram and like almost everyone said how good this is! Adding extra samcan (pork belly) and pig's ear is A MANDATORY! Cek Acong's fried dishes here tend to have this beautiful blend of mostly sweet, salty and savory notes, the toppings (samcan and pig's ear) are the real star, it's juicy, a tad saucy and just beautiful! Starts from IDR 30k.
SADEWA STREET CULINARY - KULINER JALAN SADEWA
Jl. Sadewa, Cicendo, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40173

The stalls in Sadewa street start operating on the evening, there are not too many options here but each stall sells something different! We tried almost all of them except the steak and turned out the street food was impressive as hell! The mie rica might look boring and simple, but it was really good, tasty and spicy (don't forget the meatballs), the fried rice was slightly different than Cek Acong's, it's saltier and in a sense more fragrant, generous topping. The Baso Tahu (steamed siomay) is another must try! The siomay was so impressive and in Indonesia I'd like to say "dibikinnya bener-bener dari ikan,  rasa ikannya berasa banget", or it's truly made from fish as you can tell the fish's meat flavor! Alpukat Negro is another must try! A simple blend of fresh avocado, coffee and chocolate condensed milk: SEX.

PASKAL FOOD MARKET
Paskal Hyper Square, Jl. Pasir Kaliki No. 25-27, Kebon Jeruk, Andir, Bandung, Jawa Barat 40181
Paskal (Pasar Kaliki) Food Market is a modern-traditional food court located inside the Paskal Hypersquare complex. The peak hour is on the evening where the place is packed, but make sure you come earlier (like 5:30 or 6because some of the well known tenants there are sold out easily! I tried their Bolu Bakar (traditional Bandung dessert), Iga Bakar Si Jangkung, Cakwe Goreng, Jagung Keju, and (again) Wedang Ronde Alkateri.
DAPUR DAHAPATI
Jl. Anggrek, Bandung Wetan, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40114
Opening hours: 8 AM-10 PM
Dapur Dahapati is claimed the best oxtail soup in Bandung by many, as well as the most popular. I don’t know if I should agree whether I never tried any other oxtail soup in Bandung, but comparing to Bogor Cafe’s, I think Bogor Cafe’s better in certain things, but tbh Dapur Dahapati’s not bad at all. I found their grilled oxtail pleasing enough, saucy and the meat’s quite tender, the grilled one also came with a personal sized soup, don’t forget to add in their homemade chili omg so good.
Oxtail Soup IDR 60k, Grilled Oxtail – IDR 63,5k
BAKSO BOEDJANGAN
Jalan Dipatiukur No.1, Jawa Barat 40132
Bakso Boedjangan is a trending meatball chain in Bandung at the moment and their outlets are spread all around Bandung. I went to the one in Dipatiukur for lunch, the meatball was surprisingly good! It’s chunky, meaty and served with tasty broth (bet you can expect and imagine that salty beef broth best served hot). Had their Bakso Campur (IDR 22,5k), and each of their large ones (Bakso Rawit, Bakso Keju, Bakso Urat (IDR 13,5k each). The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact how it looked totally different comparing to the photos I saw on Instagram LOL, and it was totally lacking of cheese!
KUE CUBIT RANDOM
Bandung’s “kue cubit” is simple, but special. I don’t know how to explain this but the ones in Jakarta had nothing to compare to the ones I randomly found in Bandung, just like this one, found this accidentally after my lunch at Bakso Boedjangan. Cheap cheap guilty pleasure much (IDR 10k) for 9 pieces or a single serving.
LAPO SIAGIAN (LAPO B2)
Jl. H. Hasan No. 19 A, Bandung
This place is located somewhere hidden and ain't fancy at all so don't expect one. Lapo itself means "a humble stall to eat with", almost warung and warteg style. I didn’t pay attention to the street as I was looking at my phone the whole time but maybe you can google or Waze the direction? *wink*. They serve the classic grilled Batak pork, and the one that’s saucier made using the pig’s own blood. As scary as it sounds, it was actually quiet nice. TRY BEFORE YOU JUDGE! – starts from IDR 30k per serving.

Everyone travels to Bandung for good times and good food, and this city is indeed a paradise for foodies! All those weights you gain after are those that are worth it! HAVE FUN EXPLORING & TRYING.
