I am not an avid fan of macarons nor it's the kind of dessert that I often crave, but La Maison is surely a huge thing and such a household name at its origin Medan, and remember the rave when it first opened its pop-up store in We The Future market? Maybe because of the huge positive response the brand is now expanding its business with the hope of being successful (like any other business do). The store design was very minimalist with a little industrial vibe, you'll basically find a few seats inside along with this huge macaron display and beverage bar mainly taking the space.
The macarons were not complete on my visit, some flavors were finished and some were full, but the colorful macarons even before you know how they tasted were such eye-candy, and one glance at their macarons and you know they're so well-made: solid and fat with its macaron feet (important sign that you bake your macarons right) and various thick generous filling.
Price for a box of 6 macarons is IDR 115k (before 10% tax)
They serve various coffee, tea and soft beverages to pair your macaron, tea time here? :)
Assorted Macarons (box of 6) - IDR 115k I honestly didn't even care about the flavors I just randomly pick whatever looks cute, as far as I can remember I had the Earl Grey Lavender, Popcorn, Watermelon, Peanut Butter and forgot the other two, not sure if they will roll the flavors or new ones will come up I suggest follow their Instagram for more updates.
Besides macarons, they also offer the customer selections of whole and mini cakes, my eyes went straight to the pretty two and from the picture below: Mademoiselle (left) and Chloe (right), all for IDR 50k each.
The Mademoiselle was VERY delicious, it's this beautiful mix of sponge cake with watermelon and crusty layer and topped with chantily cream, fresh strawberries and flower petals. The cream was thick, fragrant, sweet and it seriously was something that really elevated the flavor, make sure that you get the cakes when the watermelon was on its freshest. Surely the cake that you need to try,
Mini Chloe - IDR 50k
Their Chloe was this citrus sponge cake layered with torched meringue and topped with fresh fruits, the meringue was too sweet for my liking and even though I expected the sourness of the citrus cake to balance it out, the sweetness from the meringue still outperformed the sponge cake, but overall still pretty enjoyable to be honest.
Congratulations on the opening and welcome to Jakarta, please charm the people of Jakarta with more of your good creations! Best of luck!
