It was a nice day, cool weather and all that I have in mind was having afternoon tea.

I asked my followers on Twitter about the great places in Jakarta to have afternoon tea and some of my followers replied me with a name of the place that I'm going to be reviewing right this second. Ladies and gentlemen, it's MOOVINA: Le Jardin-Mezzanine. (Le Jardin is pronounced : LE JARD(A)N).

Le Jardin was the venue of where this afternoon tea session occured. Moovina has two areas: Le Jardin's located on the third floor of Plaza Indonesia and Mezzanine was located one level higher. Le Jardin is purposed for everyone who wants a more relaxed atmosphere for light-bites and afternoon tea like I did, while Mezzanine is for a more formal event (more romantic event), since it's purposed for ones who wanted to have their main course.

Just a few steps inside and I was super impressed by how beautiful the place is, it's almost like you're in a French garden with a lot of plants and I was seated at a perfect place near the window where natural daylight is friendly.

When they gave me the menu, I just can't decide, I need to see it for myself because I need to have the physique look of the cakes so that I'll be more relieved in choosing, yet at least that I know that my cakes are pretty (lol). Initially I wanted to go for the Edelweiss private afternoon tea set, but sadly they don't include sliced cakes, the menu consists of croissant, rhum sticks, and lemon tart, therefore I go with the Ala Carte.

La Vie En Rose
IDR 25k (before tax)

This cake really caught my attention, especially how beautiful they decorated the side with butter-cream in pink gradation. I was so blown away with how pretty the cake looks I need to make sure that the cake actually tastes as sweet and as memorable as it looks. The cake was very moist with a touch of raspberry flavor! I honestly like this cake. I am not a very big fan of butter cream but this one is beyond my imagination, I thought it's going to greasy and eww-in-taste, but it was so soft, melts in your mouth, not overpowering.

Love the idea of using chocolate sauce. It adds different flavor that play around in your mouth.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcake
IDR 21k (before tax)

Again, I was captivated by the beauty of this cake, the nut crumble are the reason why I have to choose this cupcake! It looks so delish any eyes will feel extremely guilty not taking this.
I tried the peanut butter and I love how it's very smooth, it doesn't really taste like Skippy so I presume that it's custom made Moovina style. Overall, good start at the peanut butter.

I must admit that the chocolate cupcake wasn't my favorite and it's under my expectation. I thought the cake would be soft and moist, but it's the exact opposite. I need to spend a little more energy to slice the cupcake but as it gets to the bottom, the softness is like a gradient, the lower surface has the softest consistency. I think it'd be better if the cake starts from the medium to extra soft, instead of hard to soft.

Camomile Tea
IDR 28k (before tax)

The tea they're using is from Dilmah, which is one of the top quality teas in the world. Going with Camomile wasn't a mistake at all, it's really relaxing and the scent of the camomile really keeps my mood at the steady-good.

PS: I like my tea to have a little glimpse of the flowers. It just appears to gve a soothing yet much natural flavor.
I spent IDR 89k after 20% tax for this special treat on a special afternoon.

While you spend a little fortune to enjoy an afternoon tea at certain places. For some people, afternoon tea is not an excuse to post beautiful fancy treat on Instagram, for some, it's a lifestyle, and it's actually so much more than pretty cakes and fancy teas, it's about private, personal and inner joy on a nice afternoon.

I'm still going to surf the great places in Jakarta to have my private afternoon teatime.
If you have any recommendations, please leave comments or reach me via Twitter <3.

Thank you guys! See you around!!!

Two days ago, I was super craving for desserts and I remember this place, exactly straight to this place. I bet this place doesn't need anymore introduction and publication since this place is super famous and well known for its holy cake (going there in a moment), but if you're new in Jakarta and you want a place that serves great and delish cakes, this might be your guide :).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place, probably one of the best Interior I've ever seen among restaurants in Jakarta. The interior actually reminds me of BLD Puri Indah, it's very upclass New York-like urban and I love the fact that it's such in a more private and you're going to have a courtyard as your outside view, it just adds the atmosphere to be much more urbaned (remember urbaned is not a proper word, I'm just an expressive moron).

Union's Red Velvet Cake
IDR 50k (before tax)

This is the holy cake I talked about earlier.

It's not just a red velvet cake, it's Union's Red Velvet Cake. Hands down, for me this one is the best red velvet cake in Jakarta! What? Gonna throw me with rotten eggs? Please do, but before that, make sure you have this slice of Heaven. I bet one is not enough. For the price, I think this one is the most expensive red velvet I've ever had but it just worths the price! The portion is also big, you can also share this slice for two.

The cake is moist with a little touch of rhum, the caramel nut crumble is also delish and actually smells nice :). You know how I am not a very big fan of overpowering cheese flavor. The cream cheese is nice and definitely not overpowering (for my liking).

Pandan Cake
IDR 40k (before tax)
Surprisingly, I love this cake! I thought it's going to be an ordinary yet boring pandan cake but to be honest, this one is different! I love how the cake is so moist and smooth, and the pandan cream just melts in your mouth. The pandan taste is somehow not overpowering, everything is just positive for this cake. Gonna give it to this one for completely changing my first impression :).

By the way, the pink beverage behind is Strawberry Tea (IDR 25k - before tax)

Coffee Donut with Vanilla Ice Cream and Baileys
IDR 45k (before tax)
To be honest, I am already impressed by the simple presentation, but then I wonder the proper serving, so I just mix the whole thing and I think I did the right thing. First of all, let me just try all these one by one. Coffee donut is okay but not crazy fantastic, meanwhile the vanilla ice cream and the baileys are such a lover and match to one another. So here I go mixing them all which equals to GENIUS! When you mix them all (plus I add some nut crumbles from Union's Red Velvet cake) it's such a heavenly blast in your mouth.

WONDERFUL!

As conclusion, I just feel like desserts really do make me happy, especially when I have a dessert with ice-cream, it just simply makes my heart smile even bigger. As in price, I think Union is somehow pricy but I just feel like it worths the price and the portion. And for the taste? Not to be missed. Somehow I feel like Union tortured me with their fabulous cakes. Anyway, this one is my third visit but my first time documenting and I personally am still satisfied by the desserts and also the venue, I always ask for the window side.

Leaving you guys with a photo of these beautiful fresh flowers. They're real.

On Tuesday, I was invited by Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel for a menu tasting session. It was a fine dining dinner set inspired by the culture of Sicilian Island in Italia, and that is what I'm about to blog to you guys.

This year and this month (specifically on June 1st-9th), Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel is celebrating "Italian Week Fair" in conjuction with the Italian Independence day in the month of June, together with its gorgeous restaurant "Scusa", they're presenting a selection of exclusive set menus from the well known region of Italy to satisfy for cravings of Italian culinary! There are three regions of Italy that became the highlight: Sicily, Tuscany and Venezia. I was fortunate enough for the chance to taste the Sicilian inspired dinner set, it was such an ultimate dining experience so hold on to your seats now, the tour is about to start.

Scusa was located at the second floor of Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel, it's a restaurant with nice fancy yet classy deco, perfect for dinner. Going to show you some photos of the restaurants.

Of course you have to see it for yourself, the eyes don't lie. It was almost 10PM when I took this photo so you can imagine how the lighting was.

But anyway, let's focus on the most important deal of the night: THE FOOD.

Oh, first things first, before I start showing you guys the fabulous dinner I had on that night, I want to give it to their staff for being so well behaved. From the moment I stepped my feet into the restaurant until the end of the dinner, the crews were SUPER POLITE like SUPER, I just can't emphasize enough, starting from the receptionist until the waiters. You guys own my heart. Thank you for being so nice.

Just when I sit on my table, I was "greeted" by a complimentary from the restaurant: A Walnut Bread with Feta Cheese. The bread smells so good and it's very chewy in a good way! The Feta Chesse itself is from GREECE, tastes yummy and not overpowering for me (since I am not a big fan of Cheese). It's been good so far.

I ordered their Fiesta Mocktail (IDR 65k ++) for my beverage and it was a fresh fusion of mango, orange, lychee and Grenadine syrup. The color is pretty and it actually tastes as sweet as it looks.

Lychee Martini
IDR 135k++

Bloody Mary
IDR 115k++

On the table, there's already a specially designed menu and I still keep it with me FYI just because I wanted to, I was asked to pick the choices of appetizers (Primi Piatti), main course (Secondo Piatti) and the dessert (Dolce). Primi, Secondo and Dolce literally means first, second and the third, but since Scusa was so special and kindhearted, they served me with everything so I can taste them all, now this what I called awesome gathering :).

PRIMI PIATTI
Scampi Giganti Salad
Salad with orange, red onion, mesclun and an Italian herb dressing

Favorite appetizer of the night, the scampi (shrimp(s)) were so fresh. I am such a big fan of mesclun leaves so I have no problem eating this.

Insalata Vegetariana (meaning salad which presumably consists of entirely vegetables)
Salad with rocket leaves, olives, cherry tomatoes, anchovies, green beans and lemon dressing.

From the description itself you can presume that this salad certainly fits better for vegetarians, I definitely prefer the first one (Scampi Giganti Salad) due to the shrimps, it just adds more twist and less boring. This one for me is not bad, but it's just plain vegetables.

ZUPPA (SOUP)
Zuppa Polpetta
Sicilian meatball soup with cabbage
Hands down to the meatballs!!! They're so delicious, I kinda wish that the soup will be a little saltier, I don't know if it's the authentic Sicilian way of cooking and ingredient measuring, I'll go with it, but I just wish that it'd be saltier for my preferance. Meanwhile, the bread was genius, it melts in your mouth and it's on a perfect seasoning (which for me saltier).

SECONDO PIATTI
Beef Involtini
Beef Involtini with pumpkin tortellini, stuffed eggplant and porcini sauce.

Surprisingly, I kinda like the pumpkin tortellini, you might think it's weird that pumpkin puree becomes the filling of the dumplings but it's very well cooked, it doesn't end up getting very sweet of the pumpkin, and in fact it coordinates so good with the tortellini. The beef is also cooked in a good temperature, the meat and the wrapping (assuming it's also beef) also create a nice texture for the mouth. I love the sauce and the mushroom chunks!

the eggplant puree is so nice!

Scottato Branzino
Seared Sea Bass with stuffed calamari, caponata of vegetables and anchovy-dressing.

Gotta give it to them for the Sea Bass + anchovy dressing, they just fit so well like hands and gloves, was imagining the Sea Bass with another sauce and I just can't find a better match than this (some might be good but I personally think this is a genius idea to use the anchovy sauce dressing). The Sea Bass itself is cooked so good and the stuffed calamari is another pleasure. THIS IS THE WINNING DISH and also MY FAVORITE that night!

DOLCE

Fasten your seatbelt because this one is my most favorite chapter of the dinner! They have awesome desserts and I'd go back for the restaurant for the desserts! I'm so mouthwatering right now!

Sicilian Cassata
Neapolitan Ice Cream with candied fruit and nuts

This one is beyond words, I don't know how to describe this but it's just the friggin bomb of the night! I love love love this, it has the sweet, the texture, and most importantly it stays in my mind for days, the only negative thing is that it's so little I can't have enough. Not the most photogenic dish but don't always judge a food from its cover.

Pistachio Tart with Chocolate Custard
Certainly more photogenic and yeah it's as sweet as it looks. The desserts served are so memorable I wanna cry. I love how they manage to cut the pistachio nuts on random (mostly big) chunks, it just adds more adorable texture value.

FREE EXTRA COMPLIMENTARY:
Iced Cappuccino
IDR 65k

FRESH and awakening.

I just don't wanna go home! Anyway, just come to Scusa because the Italian Week Fair will end on June 9th, what's better? YOU DON'T NEED YOUR PASSPORT and to pay the tickets, visas and taxes to Italy, simply go to Scusa at Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel and enjoy these special menus by Chef Gary Palm (executive chef of Scusa) and Chef Wawan Barito Setiawan (Chef De Cuisine of Scusa).

Italian Week Fair will be available at Scusa, Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel until June9th! The set menu selection starting from IDR 399k++/person. Table reservations are recommended!

Special thanks for this precious fine dining session Intercontinental MidPlaza Hotel and don't judge fine dining just because you see the portion is small, remember, looks can be deceiving, and the fact is they don't look as little as the picture, try expanding the photo to 1000%!!! They actually are thick in taste and guaranteed to fulfil your cravings as well as covering your hunger (LOL).

Sad truth at the moment:
You have reached the end of the journey of this Sicilian Culinary Tour *wipe tears*

See ya at the upcoming posts! Stay tuned and thanks for reading =).

Ramen. Everytime I hear this word, my imagination starts creating this illusion of an amazing foodporn resulting a deadly craving which leads to imaginary foodgasm. Okay, I don't mean to be filthy, but trust me, what I'm about to write was actually already been told from the title of this entry.

I rarely labeled something with "the best" unless I feel like something is deservant.

Last week, I am extremely honored for being invited for an exclusive menu tasting session at Tsurukamedou Ramen by Chef Masayuki Nomura. I've been hearing about this ramen and wanted to try it out for myself, but suddenly, one email notification put a smile on my face, it's a total blessing.

Tsurukamedou is located at Taman Ratu Kemuning, Greenville. This is its first branch in Indonesia, they already owned 8 other branch spread around Japan. In case you're wondering why they don't manage to fit itself at Pantai Indah Kapuk (which is like the Ramen kingdom in town), I'm going to that later.

So, why Tsurukamedou and what does it actually mean? Tsurukamedou is a word consisting the word "Tsuru", "Kame" and "Dou". "Tsuru" means crane (aves), "Kame" means turtle and "Dou" means a dome, so the word "Tsurukamedou" itself means cranes and turtles in a dome. In case you're wondering, no, they don't sell crane and turtle meats here. Crane and turtle are respected animals in Japan according to the ancestor's belief.

Prepare yourself for an amazing foodporn. OMG I am so mouthwatered right now.

Tonkotsu Ramen
IDR 45k

Hands down! This is the reason why I labelled this ramen as "THE BEST RAMEN IN TOWN!". Basically, it has everything I've ever wanted in a ramen: thick yummy broth (I prefer pork over chicken), yummy thin noodles (which I'm loving the fact that they are using it!), Tamago to die for, Chasiu that will let you mouthwatered for hours even more when you realized you've tasted it.

BROTH: I always prefer pork bone broth over chicken just because I simply love it. The broth was cooked for long hours (according to the manager, it's around 16 straight hours). For me, the broth is thick but less oily, which is good, and there's something about the thick broth that when you put it in your mouth, it just melts and the flavor just stays on your tounge for a moment, so good.

NOODLE: They use thin noodles and not those you've probably had at different outlets, the thing with the thin noodle is when you lift it with chopstick, the broth is carried along with the thin noodles (despite the broth is literally thick), but this is why I think in this case, the thin noodle works with the broth and I think it's genius. According to what the manager told me, the thin noodle is what most authentic Japanese ramen restaurants are applying.

TAMAGO: I personally think it's a total must that tamago is half-boiled, so in this case, Tsurukamedou's Tonkotsu pass the verification (LOL). I don't like cooked tamago, when I'm eating ramen with cooked (and sometimes overcooked) tamago, I definitely put it away from my bowl because it will ruin the taste. I don't know if you like it, I just don't.

CHASIU: OMG this is certainly the best chasiu I've ever had, period! First, it's so thick! most of my experience having ramen, I find the chasiu to be sliced very thin, but this one, you'll have three slices of thick chasiu. Second, they are very well seasoned! It's marinated with special ingredients from Tsurukamedou before they're being served along with the ramen. The fat is the bomb! It's so juicy and yummy I can't emphasize enough!

One bowl of this and I am full! but wait, the surprise is not over yet.

thin noodle is such genius!

Tonkotsu Shisen Ramen
IDR 45k

Being served with another bowl of ramen. If you're looking for more chasiu and "hotter" ramen, this one is a good recommendation.

First impression, it's soooo HOT and SPICY. I am not very good with spicy food and I tend to sweat a lot and this one actually succeed to cause me sweat like crazy. Still with the thick yummy spicy broth and tons of chasiu, this one should be considered for you who love spicier touch of ramen.

If you're wondering where the nori, tamago and mushroom are, they're not being served on this menu, it's because they want to keep the spiciness alive and in Japan itself, those are not being served along with spicy ramen. I think Tsurukamedou really applies everything that the Japanese outlets are doing, well, I personally that nothing is wrong with it, in fact, I kinda love it because sometimes all I want to experience is something truly authentic, well, at least on the presentation and the culture of serving. You shouldn't always depend on the market, sometimes the uniqueness and the belief of quality is the reason why the market follows you, and you'll end up having your own "market".

Tori Karaage
IDR 25k

The karaages are very well seasoned and fried nicely. This is certainly the appetizer that I'd love to recommend you guys. I love the fact that they're using soysauce for the dressing of the coleslaw instead of mayonaisse. This should come as appetizer but this came at last, I should've finished them all because it's so juicy, but the delish ramens have had me enough. So many delicious food but my stomach apparently has its limit.

Without any hesitation, I'm going to label this THE BEST RAMEN I'VE HAD IN JAKARTA!! PERIOD. I don't care if you're going to throw rotten eggs at me for this is based on my experience, still wondering if any future ramen could beat this.

Just because that it's not located at PIK or any other "busy" culinary street, it won't be successful, I DO HAVE high expectations for this ramen, I believe that when you have quality, you'll survive, I just think that you need to try this out for yourself because believe me, it's so good you'll probably agree on putting this on top of your list. This one is a strong contender.

Friendly reminder just like what I've mentioned before that this restaurant really applied its original Japanese tradition, so you won't find a lot of choices, except for ramens and some rice dish (chahan), come on, you're eating at a ramen house, I bet you'll probably aware that you'll have ramen, right :).

By the way, I'm still dreaming of having my bowl of ramen in a simple stall like this, I think it just adds the deliciousness to 100%, environment affects!
