My life routine requires me to be mobile all the time, and stay connected to the world.

Well, in this case, the internet world.
All these times I’ve been struggling with the eye cylinder that I’ve been suffering. Initially I didn’t have any eye problem and not until the middle of last year that I knew about that because I started feeling that I need to quinch my eyes more to read small letters and number in a certain distance, AND THAT’S THE MAIN REASON WHY I’VE BEEN WEARING CONTACT LENS! But currently, I found myself too lazy to wake up (even waking up is lazy) and put on the contact lens and for some reasons, my eyes tend to be very dry in the morning and most of the times, putting on the contact lens could irritate my eyes. I know I could just moist my eyes with the eye drops and put them on but yes sometimes I am THAT lazy.

Got invited by Yellowfin Jakarta for a scrumptious dinner time (thank you!) and this post will be talking all about it!

As you know (or don't), Yellowfin is a Japanese restaurant which is also a part of the OPCO group which is also running some other restaurants like the classic Portico, Koffie Warung Tinggi, Stark Bierhaus and to the newest joint: Hello Howdy Holla Hey Ho in Grand Indonesia, bet it won't be stopping here soon, looking forward for more ventures from the giant!

Yellowfin itself currently has two branches: one located in Grand Indonesia and another one that I went to was its first and main outlet located in Senopati (just across Anomali). I've been checking out (or at least looking) at Yellowfin because physically, this place is eye-catching with all those hanging lamps outside the restaurant but since I haven't got the chance, plus reading some mixed reviews, I kinda hold myself back a while ago.
The restaurant area was surprisingly quite spacious, it could hold around 60-80 people based from what I experienced visually. The venue was decorated majorly with wood materials and it had that rustic mood to it while still having that Japanese sense to it. During the night, the lighting was pretty dim but I honestly think the dim lighting was actually the quality for the dining venue because it lived up the ambiance.
Yellowfin is also known as a Sake Bar so you're going to find tons of sake bottles used as decoration elements.

They also have private dining area for two groups (12 each) and there will be minimum charge applied due to the reservation, around IDR 2 mil to spend minimum.

Private corner.

First before I start showing you the food pics, I am pretty much FUMING MAD with blogspot because they tend to compress the friggin photos! The photos below suddenly appeared to be taken with some old douche camera with grains all over the photos, Those weren't even looking like that as I am looking at the computer folders right now *sigh*.

Ponyo
IDR 35k
Ponyo is one of some Yellowfin's signature mocktail creations. Technically it's mango puree mixed soda water, passion fruit and passion fruit syrup. This was pretty refreshing and I love how well the flavor was balanced and the dose of sweet and sourness.

Green Tea Lemoncello
IDR 100k
This particular beverage is one of Yellowfin's signature cocktail and sake creation. It actually tasted like Tequilla, only with the mixture of sake. DO have the sugar-coated lemons after you had a cup to neutralize everything, surpisingly this was pretty decent.

Gyu Tan
IDR 70k
This was one of the appetizers served on the dinner. Their take on Gyu Tan (or simply known as Ox tounge) was just really close to perfection! Thin sliced uber tender juicy Gyu Tan served with the-of-so-delicious Miso sauce. Bet you're going to be very addicted once you tried this because it's THAT good plus it had that grilled, wok-ish aroma that rush up your appetite. You probably going to be surprised because it tasted so much like actual beef meat.

Asparagus Bacon
IDR 45k
Short to say, the Asparagus Bacon was another success. The Asparagus was cooked 'pan-seared' and the bacon was just tender and juicy (instead of dry and crispy) which I love. The bacon they're using here is pork and since I am such a sucker for pork dishes, this was friggin good!

Ebi Tempura Spicy Salad
IDR 48k
Now this one had the more interesting play of flavor and texture comparing to the previous two. It was crunchy, sweet, savory, sour... playful but still pretty much fun and enjoyable! This was not spicy as what stated on the titling. I honestly didn't really experience the Ebi because it was either minced or being cut to be ultra tiny but I did 'bump' into the mushrooms, short to say this one worth your try.

Spicy Maguro Onigiri
IDR 25k
They also gave two of their signature onigiri creations: the Spicy Maguro Onigiri and the Shake Onigiri (with Salmon - below). The onigiri was pretty big for a personal size, tried both of the onigiri but I must say that I was fond of the Shake Onigiri because first, I am really fond of Salmon, and secondly the meat was more generous comparing to the Spicy Maguro one, again I didn't find any spicy hint from the onigiri.

Shake Onigiri
IDR 25k

Hamachi Kama Teriyaki
IDR 140k
Hamachi is the Yellowtail fish which also happens to be the icon of the Yellowfin! If you look at the logo, it would be devastatingly hard to cook this because it was just cute! Anyway, this dish was one of their most famous as well as best sellers and I HAVE TO AGREE! It was seriously really really good with juicy smooth meat even after being deep fried and grilled. Gotta give credit to the outstanding cooking skill of the chef. I would grant this as one of the best fish courses I have eaten so far in my life. VERY RECOMMENDED!

Ebi Creamy Spicy Yaki
IDR 148k
This could made me teared up because of HOW GOOD this is. The prawns were big, really fresh and smooth and all that creamy dressing was just beyond my expectation. There's something about this dish that had its own class but you're aware that it's not intimidating.

Gindara Saikyo Yaki
IDR 165k
I must say that Yellowfin is such a champion and serious with their fish courses, again, didn't fail to impress me was this Gindara Saikyo Yaki! The Gindara (black cod) was marinated in Saikyo Miso overnight and that's probably why the seasoning absorb pretty nicely to the meat still leaving it to be juicy and smooth!

Ogura Ice Cream
IDR 25k

Yellowfin was just the awesome place to have great Japanese food (or Japanese seafood) and since I experienced it myself, I must say that I was pretty much impressed by how awesome the food was I could shed friggin tears of happiness! Especially that Hamachi Kama Teriyaki man... hmm! Pricing wise, I honestly think the food pricing is still pretty much reasonable, even if they're expensive, they're expensive for certain reasons.

DON'T STOP READING!!!
Celebrating their second anniversary, Yellowfin is having a special All You Can Eat promotion for their Sushi, Salad, Yakitori, Chahan and Miso Soup) for IDR 199k, every Saturday and Sunday 11-2 PM. Great freaking deal!

NOT ONLY THAT...
Win a chance to travel Japan for two by joining Yellowfin Kihada Chan competition this MAY!
The terms and conditions are very easy: you just have to dine in Yellowfin, collect the stamps and fill in the "passport"! This passport could be the real deal for you as the gateway to JAPAN!

Japan is such a country with worth loving culture and I bet everyone wants to go there!

WHY THE HELL do I need to type this in the middle of the night. Better off to 'tie' myself with the blanket so I won't cheat for the fridge!

THANKS FOR READING!!!

I am so ungloriously tardy with my pictures I forgot I've been here before but (almost) forgot to blog this.

Went lunching at this sort-of new restaurant in the Wijaya neighborhood called Umabo! Umabo itself stands for Umami-bowl which was actually one of the name of the main courses here. Umabo offers selections of rice bowl with various toppings as their highlight menu but the excitement doesn't stop there, they also come with some other choices like burger (Uma-Burger), sandwiches (Uma-Sandwich), some appetizers (Uma-Sides), desserts (Uma-Sweets) and drinks (Uma-Chug).

Finding Umabo was not challenging, not only it's located at the connecting Wijaya street, it's also not significantly far-away from the famous Pand'or, just stores away and it had this pretty big signboard (see above) and if you see that means the mark of your arrival!

The venue was not spacious, it was just medium-spaced restaurant with proper function, not much decoration but overall comfy enough for a quick dining. Best time going here would probably lunch, especially if you care about taking decent pictures like me... night wouldn't do because it would be hideously dark.

Tried some of their menu starting from appetizer to dessert. Monster Fries (IDR 26k) was clearly on the list because it looked really appetizing on the iPad (yes, no printed menu, iPad to tap and order). It's technically deep fried french fries topped with melted cheese, beef, caramelized onion and Jalapeno. It was honestly pretty good, even though I expected the ingredients to somehow blend and absorb a little more to the fries which then would make it top notch! Portion? standard for two.

Ribs Me Up
IDR 60k
Ribs Me Up was claimed to be one of their best sellers according to the waiter there so I guess it's just silly to skip this. My expectation was pretty high until we realized the fact that the rice was seriously undercooked for the two rice bowls we ordered, luckily the staffs were really attentive and replace the rice with the better-cooked one, and that sort of cleared out everything. The seasoning and the sauce dressing was pretty good and generous, maybe if they tone down the mayo sauce then it would be better. The ribs were just on the right punch! Properly generous for one bowl portion and they were tender, juicy, savory, sweet and the runny egg was such a joy!

Chicken Wings Bowl
IDR 46k
Frankly speaking, this was below my expectation. Forget about the undercooked rice, The main problem was the sauce dressing, they should've put a little more to match the ratio of the rice given, it was just slightly dry overall - the sweet and savory sauce was actually pretty good (tried a little) tho - However, despite the lack of sauce, the chicken wings were adorable!!! Very very nicely cooked, I can say it proudly that the chicken wings were cooked with class and impressive skills!

Steroid Burger
IDR 65k
Hands down for this one as it's honestly ONE OF THE FREAKING BEST BURGERS I'VE HAD SO FAR! The buns were soft as capital F, the beef patty was perfectly cooked and beautifully seasoned and it got that kick to it that makes you go 'wanting more!'. The egg, well couldn't say no to a nice sunny side up with runny center, the caramelized onion, the sauce and the seasoning were just perfect. I want Umabo to keep the burger quality to stay this good or else I'll be embarassed and my review will sound overrated!

Umabo Snickers Bar
IDR 13k
Deep fried Snickers bar with caramel sauce dressing, I didn't find this particular dessert to be anywhere near 'great' because I thought this was something that could be done by most of you. Umabo should have nicer range of desserts to tone up the menu.

Overall, I had a pleasant visit!!! The food was potential enough to be really good and me love the range of main courses they're having, I love restaurants like this you know, it's just that they know what they want to serve and they focus on it instead of wasting time and energy to make list of crappy food! Maybe a little minus here and there but they were really acceptable. I was expecting nicer dessert creations from Umabo tho. Best of luck! Will come back for more rice bowls for sure!!!

Went to this new restaurant which just recently opened for public, say hi to the newest joint in Kemang, HYDE!

Technically they're still on their soft-opening days but since the pictures from Odie Djamil's and HYDE's instagram has been hurting my eyes everytime they upload new photos to their account, that's the cut throat, couldn't wait any longer!

HYDE is located in Taman Kemang and it's close to Common People or Plaza Bisnis Kemang. I fell in love with their architecture and interior design, it was just so urban, minimalist, almost greece-like interior with those glass windows all around, but in the same time still earthy and modest. One thing that I must point out here (and to all restaurants with this privelege), finally another restaurant with separated smoking and non-smoking areas! Inside you'll also find a bar located in the middle of the main dining area, pretty huge and nicely decorated.

I am not completely satisfied with the pictures I took it was freaking dark and since they started opening at 6 PM, I guess you'll get what I got *defensive*. I probably spend more time editing these photos than actually writing this post! I do hope they're opening sooner because I could really imagine that the place's going to be so damn beautiful during the day just like what I saw from their instagram.

HYDE serves mostly western courses but there's also a little fusion and pan-asian courses you could choose here, well here are some of the menus that I ordered on my visit.

Strawberry Iced Tea
IDR 25k

Pasta A La Vodka
IDR 55k
This particular dish was in between good and not-that-pleasant for me, the good thing is the portion, it was pretty generous for one, even you can share it if you're really full, not only that, the filling was also generous, but I wasn't THAT fond of this dish because it was really cheesy which I myself was totally a contrast of, and since it's cooked with Vodka, I wasn't feeling even a hint from the Vodka, I was expecting the flavor to be bolder and braver or maybe a little wild or playful, therefore it tasted like a plate of pasta with tomato sauce dressing.

Stuffed Chicken Breast with Mashed Potatoes and Lemongrass Velour Sauce
IDR 85k
This following dish happened to be another sort-of-disappointment for me-sorry just being honest here-first, the chicken was cooked pan-fried, but as in for the result, the chicken was way too dry and it was not tender, it was clearly overcooked because the meat was hard and not juicy, it was lack of the golden pan fried color of the chicken coating that I was expected to be more. I also was not a huge fan of the stuffed filling, guess what? it was minced chicken, if I may suggest, I think it's considerable to change the filling to anything beside chicken (spinach cream perhaps :9), you get what I am saying right, chicken filling inside a chicken breast...hmm. I also prefer the mashed potato to be a little smoother in texture and consistency-more like a puree form, but it was honestly not a big deal for me, other than that the sauce and the veges dressing was quite good.

Crackling Pork Belly
IDR 125k
The bomb of the main course served on the night was truly this following! The pork belly rules my belly!!! Thanks to the awesome cooking of the pork belly: it was fat in a good way, juicy, fragrant (from the rosemary as well), the sauce was sweet and savory but fit just nicely. What you think was potatoes were actually sauted apples and it was also cooked in great temperature and density, was expecting the same thing happening to the carrots but it was fine. This one was recommended to try.

HYDE Chocolate Soil
IDR 55k
Okay, so far as it got served right on the table, I instantly fell in love with the presentation! It was just simple but very tempting and distrubing in the same time, I just always have this thing with wicked weird ideas to present your food, probably the weirder the better for me, especially those with genius touch of molecular gastronomy. As in for the dish itself, FUN-TAS-TIC! I fell for this on the very first scoop! It definitely got the texture play from the dusty form of 'soil' which was crumbs and chocolate liquid or paste, and for me, the sweetness was balanced nicely. Don't be surprised if later you'll find 'worms' because that's the exciting part! Chef Odie told me that the 'worms' were simply made of jelly. Must must try!

Honey Toast, Pandan Chiffon with Coconut Soup
IDR 55k
This was a complimentary dish from Odie Djamil, thank you Chef! It was a nice heartwarming dessert, the soup (or sauce) was made from cream and coconut and it had just the proper balance of sweetness and volume, the coconut flavor wasn't overpowering the whole thing. This dish was completed with honey toast cuts, Pandan chiffons and one scoop of dreamy ice cream, couldn't say much and no negative thing to say, it was just a heartwarming dessert with simplicity in a good way, another worth to try when you're here.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Lava Cake
IDR 55k
This one was another stunning dessert dish, the chocolate lava cake was cooked nicely on an appropriate temperature and consistency, it did had the peanut butter flavor to it which made it more interesting for me (peanut butter fan here!), the one that looked like an egg yolk was actually a plain jelly, I was expecting that it would be like a real egg-yolk and something would pop from it (but not literally egg yolk, meh!). This was probably everyone's good old favorite and HYDE made a good version out of this!

While the main courses were not the main stars of the night, the desserts were truly the savior of the night as well as...THE BOMBS! Their desserts are absolute must try and I highly recommend them when you're planning a visit to HYDE, I truly hope that the main courses would be fixed, it's just that unfortunate that a restaurant that awesome and good-looking as HYDE didn't nail it and lose it lux at the food. As for the pricing, I thought that HYDE sets a pretty good deal, they were pretty much affordable and reasonable for that portion.

I have high hopes for HYDE, good luck on the next services! Would be back for more of your food, I'm not done with you! Promise!
